An old Italian heirloom that was first introduced into the United States around 1865. The variety was named for a fishing village close to Venice. This variety is very easy to grow and can be harvested over a long period. Begin harvesting when the roots are 1-2" in diameter for baby beets that are very sweet and tender. Beets retain fine quality flesh even when allowed to grow to maturity at 3-4" in diameter. The unique thing about this variety is its beautiful interior coloring. Inside flesh is ringed red and white in a bulls-eye pattern. Outside skin is deep red with no hint of the unique beauty inside. 50 days.
