Tomato, Cherokee Purple
This is an old North American heirloom said to originate from the Cherokee Indians of Tennessee and North Carolina. 12 oz. fruits are a deep purple/pink color that appears a deep reddish black when ripe. Inside flesh is a deep red with darker streaks throughout. Fruits have a very nice sweet flavor and are full of old-time tomato flavor goodness! Resists sun scald due to large quantities of plant foliage. Seems to do better in cooler years here in SE Tennessee but has often produced good quantities of fruit throughout the summer despite our heat and humidity.
